My addled sister's
gone to prayer,
a thing she cannot
know but
Jesus shot reflex,
a good goddamn from
writ eternal love.
She likes me
ha-shah the
sigh we should
be sad together.
She unbubbles
a Malibu and
milk with a straw.
Is this her courtship?
Am I sucked in?
Mr Hu and Mr Wen
assure the public
everything
is being
done to limit
their trouble
A cough is
heard in the crowd
notes are written
for public consumption.
The bloat comes in
uncomely mound
who checks his hair
at the door
three girls
in the corner
leave there's only
so much air
here around
his immobility
makes him the
center us all.
This swollen shirt
pushes a phone hard
into her hair and
says this is Sophia
fine and lone
Now she's
foreign men
look up and
down what
she thought
was dowdy
and think red

We made those rhymes
And did those feet,
But no one wants
Our measured chants,
Their meadows sweet,
In modern times.
Flattered by a bluster balm,
eating their Kurds and Turks,
delicated boys wince across
sand they'd rather glaze.
One on a, two on a
self-own, and now
the pub lights on
privates it would
rather not know.
Spy fits him into her
pixels through bricks
his hair triggered now
trap is set and spring
cold snap and sky
Moon over Guantanamo
sliver hanging in the east
over watchtowers
pushing at the doors.
No one knows
under the moon.
No one's home.

When you say bar and
grill, I taste pickle.
Say it again.

Oldsmobile is gray
primer frost over
the hill with my
father at the wheel,
when you say.
Fine. I'll read this cat's
entrails for you: geese
pelicans swans push beneath
the skin to be with the
animal itself. There.
Are you satisfied now?
When the FBI came
with a booger and
phlegm team to
catalogue boogers
and phlegm, the
spats on the wall,
scuffs at the door,
to bag baggies and
tweeze the tweezers,
to gather the fuzz
under the bed, I was
outside fondling
their black sedan.

I was pulled out of line
for testing today.
The nation requires me
to breathe deeply,
be tapped by listeners
trained in the sounding
of lungs, dugs up,
from the mines, to
read pointless letters
back and forth one-eyed,
to remember where I worked,
not why, from stores and
kitchens to clicking keys.

I got this hernia fucking
above my rank. This right
sleeve is mouse-eaten,
desk-worn. This twitch
is no saucy wink. But
there are no checkboxes
for these things.

They note and let me out,
weighed, measured, stamped,
to work again.

The midmorning tram,
a strange thing to me,
circulates old women and
men who no longer work.
I stand. The gray come on,
swing small bags of meat
and cheese and bread just
long enough to sink
into seats. Grandmothers
purple haired and pinned,
grandfathers shining skulls,
everyone fingers of ancient
monkeys on the rails.

What's happened to Antoinette?
Gazelle of the grass, when
everyone leapt and you knew
she'd leap highest; is she lapped
in the grass? Is she spilled,
did she leap, is her leg wrapped,
her long neck bit; was she
spilled in the grass? Did she
kick at the last?
Accordion tune
for us all love
comes first though
we have none
when aunties
tap toes and
strange boys
from the town
whirl the girls
whirl the girls
in the same
rhyme and auntie
bares blue keys
accordion tune
for us all
On a walkabout, he
plucks a soft boy's
look from his mother's
arms and smiles, and
smiles as you would
smile at soft youth
in arms and circled
cooing. He kisses the
boy a kiss his mother
will tell him about.
It must be him, near
this smoking kebab
spit on this everyday
street, the black sedan
the government plates,
and a little touch of
Saddam in the rubble.

Shit. Tonight will be another blank page --
The door swings open; see Mr Dung Beetle perch
At the dull end of my poised pen;
See the dust move, his fusty mass lurch
As he settles on his stool, the old coprophage.

I'd give a
daiquiri to
an Iraqi
if I could.
Ha. Exotic. I love that.
Look at me. Nothing's
less exotic than this
puss, baby. Sure, after
all this time, I can dance.
I can roll like a snake
shedding its skin. And
I don't care if they stare
at what they want, so
that's two things a lot
of their wives'll never
have. If that makes me
exotic. But look at me.
Happy snow marvelous
snow falling down how
these words work for me
now in snow and soft ess
eff falling released snowf
alling so you don't mind
the cliche of the feathers.
At the airport this morning
they shot at the birds who fly
up at the sight of wing shadows.
My face furs,
chin curls in
the wait. The
week fades to
a solid month,
I plow my jaw
and decide I'm
Hairoic enough.
I cut my throat.
Suppose he's thinking
turn me off. Or back
on, try anything, cut
off my arms and legs but
keep the rest going.
We made old cars start
with replacement parts
from the junk yard. I
held the lamp or turned
the ignition. Hands
dirtied in the works.
Jumper cables and start,
damn it, start. And we
shot down the road, we
never thought the car
might have had enough.

If I think hard, my father
cannot die. Or if I don't
think at all about it, he
can't die. If I tell the
cat to shut the fuck up.
If I smoke. If I type and
type. If I fly across the
ocean tonight and hang
over his bed and expertly
check the wires and pipes
and make sure the drops
and the shocks are right
and I work the bellows by
hand and I speak things
into unconsciousness he
cannot die. If I go about
my life, he will go about
his life. If I think hard,
my father cannot die.

We grow
nails and incisors
in this dream and we
need them in
this sleep.
Sons of the suburbs
have Radio Shack dreams,
batteries included.
Jesus in the trees
but she's cut
from pure catamite
and he
is a vein of hard odds.

What
A poetry blog. Yes, I know some of them are really bad. I put everything here, even the failures. I might cannibalize them later. Just skip the bad ones. Sounds nothing but mean. (And don't look for web design; this blog is just a big sheet of paper.)
